1. About KeyBack and these terms
KeyBack Wallet Recovery is a founder-led business project operated by Oren Barak. These terms govern the website, the free feasibility assessment, and any recovery work separately agreed in writing. They do not replace the written case agreement, which will control the scope, definition of success, fee, and security arrangements for a particular case.
Questions may be sent to contact@keybackrecovery.com.
2. Service scope
KeyBack provides feasibility assessments and, where separately agreed, owner-authorized technical assistance intended to recover access to supported self-custodial cryptocurrency wallets. Relevant cases may include encrypted wallet files, forgotten or partial passwords, legacy backups, and other identifiable wallet material.
KeyBack does not reverse blockchain transactions, recover stolen funds merely by tracing them, reset or recreate a missing private key from a public address, guarantee access to a wallet, provide investment advice, or provide tax or legal advice.
3. Lawful ownership and authorization
You must be at least 18 years old and be the lawful wallet owner or a properly authorized representative. An heir, executor, estate representative, guardian, fiduciary, or other representative must be able to provide appropriate evidence of authority.
KeyBack may request non-secret evidence of identity, ownership, authority, wallet history, or source of funds. KeyBack may decline or stop a case where ownership or authority is not established, the request appears unlawful, information is materially inaccurate, or the work creates an unacceptable security, legal, or compliance risk.
4. Free initial feasibility assessment
The initial feasibility assessment is free. It is based on the non-sensitive information supplied and is not a promise that recovery is possible. No paid recovery work begins until both parties expressly agree in writing on the scope, definition of success, fee, security arrangements, and any case-specific conditions.
5. No guarantee
Wallet recovery depends on the wallet format, encryption, file integrity, surviving backups, password knowledge, hardware or software condition, computational limits, and other technical facts. Recovery may be impossible or commercially or computationally impractical.
KeyBack does not guarantee a successful result, a completion date, continuing blockchain or third-party availability, or the value, liquidity, or availability of any cryptocurrency.
6. Sensitive information
Do not submit seed phrases, private keys, complete passwords, recovery codes, PINs, wallet files, wallet contents, or other secret material through the public form, a public discussion, or ordinary initial email.
If sensitive material might later be necessary, the transfer method, access, use, retention, and deletion arrangements must be agreed for the specific case before transfer. Do not send sensitive material until KeyBack expressly confirms the agreed method in writing.
7. Client responsibilities
You must:
- provide accurate and complete information relevant to the assessment;
- preserve original devices, files, and backups and work from copies where appropriate;
- disclose previous recovery attempts that may have changed or damaged the material;
- avoid actions that could overwrite, corrupt, or expose the only surviving evidence;
- provide lawful ownership and authorization evidence when requested;
- comply with applicable tax, regulatory, sanctions, and reporting obligations; and
- maintain independent backups and security after access is restored.
You remain responsible for decisions made after recovery, including moving assets, replacing credentials, creating new backups, and obtaining legal or tax advice.
8. Success fee and payment
Unless a written case agreement states otherwise, KeyBack's fee is 15% of the cryptocurrency or other digital assets to which usable access is successfully restored.
Before work begins, the written case agreement will define:
- the exact result that constitutes success;
- whether the fee is calculated in asset units or by fiat value;
- if fiat valuation is used, the agreed pricing source and valuation time;
- when payment becomes due and the approved payment method;
- how partial recovery, multiple wallets, duplicate access, price changes, and client-caused interruption are handled; and
- which network, exchange, tax, specialist, or third-party costs are excluded from the success fee.
No recovery-service fee is due merely because an assessment or unsuccessful attempt occurred. KeyBack will not incur a chargeable third-party expense without the client's prior written approval. Approved expenses and any cancellation consequences must be stated in the case agreement.
9. Cancellation and case closure
Either side may decline to proceed after the free assessment. Once recovery work begins, cancellation, approved expenses, completed stages, and any result already achieved are governed by the written case agreement.
KeyBack may suspend or close a case if ownership cannot be verified, instructions create a legal or security concern, the client supplies materially false information, required cooperation is not provided, or continued work is no longer technically reasonable.
10. Third-party software and services
A case may depend on third-party wallet software, blockchains, hardware, hosting providers, exchanges, open-source tools, or other services. KeyBack does not control their availability, compatibility, security, fees, forks, policies, or future behavior and does not claim affiliation or endorsement unless expressly stated.
11. Confidentiality and data handling
KeyBack will use case information for the agreed assessment and recovery purpose and will not publish it as a testimonial or case study without separate permission. The Privacy Policy explains the public form, analytics, providers, and general retention approach.
Where a specialist or contractor is genuinely necessary, involvement requires the client's prior written consent and appropriate confidentiality and scope terms. Case-specific arrangements govern sensitive technical material.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, KeyBack is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential loss; loss caused by inaccurate client information, pre-existing corruption, third-party software or services, blockchain conditions, market-price changes, taxes, or actions taken by the client or another person; or loss that could not reasonably have been anticipated when the case agreement was made.
Only to the extent permitted by applicable law, for a claim arising from paid recovery work, KeyBack's aggregate liability will not exceed the fee actually paid to KeyBack for the affected case. This cap does not apply to fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, bodily injury caused by negligence where such liability cannot lawfully be limited, a breach of confidentiality or data-protection obligations to the extent that liability cannot lawfully be limited, or any other liability that applicable law does not permit the parties to exclude or limit. It does not exclude, restrict, or waive any consumer right or other mandatory right that cannot lawfully be limited.
Nothing in these terms removes a right or remedy that applicable consumer or other mandatory law does not allow the parties to waive.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms and any non-contractual dispute relating to the service are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without excluding mandatory consumer protections that apply to the client.
Any dispute may be brought before a court or tribunal that has jurisdiction under applicable law. Nothing in these terms limits a mandatory jurisdiction, venue, or consumer right to bring proceedings in another competent forum. The parties should first attempt in good faith to resolve a dispute through written communication.
14. Changes, severability, and language
Material changes to these terms will be shown with an updated effective date and will not retroactively change an existing case agreement unless both sides agree or the law requires it.
If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. Headings are for convenience only.
The English and Hebrew versions are intended to communicate the same terms. If an unintended difference in translation arises, the English version controls, subject to mandatory law and the controlling language stated in a written case agreement.
These terms are not a substitute for independent legal advice.
