A legitimate first assessment should establish ownership, technical feasibility and scope without asking you to expose wallet secrets.
What happens after contact
A seven-step, feasibility-first process
01
Non-sensitive initial inquiry
Describe the wallet type, approximate age, observed error and what material still exists—without including secrets or files.
02
Preliminary feasibility assessment
KeyBack considers whether the stated wallet format and surviving information suggest a realistic technical path.
03
Clarification of available material
Follow-up questions may cover software version, backup format, encryption state, device condition and non-secret password characteristics.
04
Security considerations
If sensitive material could later be needed, do not send it until the required handling and communication method have been discussed for that case.
05
Scope, pricing and terms
The definition of success, scope and terms are agreed before recovery work begins. Unless a written case agreement states otherwise, KeyBack's fee is 15% of assets for which usable access is successfully restored.
06
Bounded recovery work
Work proceeds only when authorized and technically feasible. No outcome is guaranteed.
07
Clear case communication
The result and available next steps are communicated without claiming that blockchain transactions can be reversed.
What KeyBack will not do
Limits matter
No unauthorized access or stolen-wallet recovery.
No claims that irreversible blockchain transactions can be reversed.
No guaranteed recovery or fabricated success rates.
No request for secrets merely to provide an initial opinion.
